Title: Is there any chain adjustment on the K11?
Post by: zalle on March 08, 2017, 04:22:29 AM
Hi, I used to adjusting the primary timing chain on my other bike, loosen a bolt, tighten a screw, tighten the bolt...

Is there any of this in the K11?

Thanks

The timing chain has a oil pressure automatic adjusting mechanism.
If the adjuster is out to it's limits, you will need a new chain.
How many miles on it?

Thanks Scott, it's all fine with the bike, just wanted to know.

She's still a baby, 40k  :riding:

Be easy on it.  It's not broken in yet.

It's still not a bad idea to check the chain and adjuster occasionally.(say @ 50K miles or so)
The oil used to pressurize the adjusting mechanism also lubricates the nylon chain guide, and from time to time the 'lubrication passageway' will plug up and not lubricate the guide properly and cause pre-mature wear of the guide and thus the adjusting mechanism will limit out faster.

How do you check it? Or could you point me to where a description of it is?

The only way to check it is to open the timing chain cover and look at it. There is no gasket other than rtv to seal it back up when installing the cover back on.
