Having the front forks on a 84 K100 LT redone and may be in need of PN: 06 31 42 1450543 (SNAP RING). Mechanic says it needs to be replaced, Bob's reports it never needs to be replaced and there are none in the inventory pipeline all the way back to Germany. Does anyone know where to source a replacement if the mechanic has damaged or lost it ?

Get a second opinion about availability. Order it from MAX BMW (https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/DiagramsMain.aspx?vid=51754&rnd=07242017).

A motorcycle suspension specialist might be able to supply one. They often have containers full of various bits and pieces.

. . . in need of PN: 06 31 42 1450543 (SNAP RING). Mechanic says it needs to be replaced, . . .
Did he explain to you why it need to be replaced? Broken, incorrect size or what?
