Hello all, i am thinking of changeing my k1100rs bars for lt or rt bars will they fit on ok?, will i have to replace the cables??  thanks for your help in advance  monty

Cables and brake line.  The combo switches and clutch switch have enough slack.

(You should just buy an LT if you want to sit upright.)

Ok, should have got the LT but now i have spent lots of cash getting this bike repaired ect, i now just need to make it more comfy for me on long trips, is this the right way to go by changeing the bars and poss the seat!!  monty

Hi all, have just picked up some LT bars for £5 and a LT seat for £30 so iam going to make the change, just can not ride the bike for more than 80 miles, i need to find a seat fixing for the LT seat as the RS one will NOT fit it  the one on the rear and which has a rubber block to it, do you have one  in the shed/workshop or where can i buy one from thanks all monty

Hi Monty,

Just my two cents, I went the other direction: My K came with LT bars and I changed to the RS. My riding confidence immediately went up many notches. I can ride my bike 500 miles in a day with ease.

If you're messing with your handlebars then I highly recommend doing this.

All set two start making the bars off and start fitting some LT bars, was looking around on the web and found this, bar risers for all k bikes may now change my mind and go with this up- 31mm and back 22mm all for just changing some bolts to me looks like hoses and cables will be ok please take a look and post feedback thanks  monty

A couple of issues:

1) If you get barbacks then make sure that you get some specifically made for K bikes - so they have holes drilled and tapped for mounting the dash pad.

2) On K1100s and other 4V K bikes the ignition switch is built into the upper fork tree. If you install barbacks then that won't line up and will be in front of the dash pad.

Hi, some good points above the barback seems to be the problem how would you over come this!!?? , if i just fitted the risers with no pull back, this looks like it may work as the is room under the handle bar pad of appox 2 1/2 in the refiting of the pad bolts you could use tabs?? what do you think  thanks  monty

If you just use risers then you'll need a long key as the ignition switch is fixed in the upper fork tree.

Another option is that if you go with the LT bars then you could just use an LT dash pad - which also give you another swtich slot if that matters to you.

Looking under the dash pad where the bars are fixed going upwards to the under side of the dash pad the looks like i have 28mm, the problem would be the ignition has this been moved by anyone?? or has anyone used spacer to make it higher, As for useing the lt bars this is the way i would like to go but im told they will be to close to the fairring on full lock??  monty

The ignition mounts from below the fork tree so I think moving it up would be a challenge.

There's a local guy I know who runs LT bars with an RS fairing.

You've already got the LT bars, right?   Why not swap them in?  You could just leave the RS bars all wired up and swap in the LT bars.

Another option would be to use a square dash pad from a K75 or K100 and wire up that dash mounted ignition to the RS.

Yes has right i do have the LT bars i have been told by sherlocks a bmw outlet  if i put them on they will hit the fairring when the bike is on full lock, is this right!!
