Fuel light K75S
« on: June 18, 2015, 02:33:53 PM »
I have this 1988 K75S and now i'm turning it to a cafe racer. I removed the instrumental cluster because it's so bulky. I'm using sigma speedo but fuel level warning light would be nice. I'm thinking about a simple led ligt. Would it work?

I've designed and had circuit cards made for a single LED fuel level indicator for the K-bike.  It will display Green with a full tank, flash green with 50% full, Red at 25% full and flash red with 15% full.  It works with the later fuel level senders only.  The circuit plugs into the 4-pin connector on the K-bike harness, under the tank.

Today I change the oil (first time since I've owned it) and changed the final drive oil (certainly for the first time).

Oops, wrong thread. Is it possible to delete a comment?

'85 and on K100.  All years of K75.  It's the sender that is a variable resistor-type driven by a float arm.

Do you mean that connector?

Rbm,

Do you have plans for this circuit? I'd love to build something Like that.

Yes, I have plans and boards.  I can sell the raw boards or completed units; picture of the unpopulated card below:

I've designed the unit under the Open Source Hardware copyright so the design is in the public domain.  It uses a Digispark to read the sender and drive the LED so you'll need to have a computer to program the Arduino with the code I've written.

I've boards and parts, no completed units.  Actually, I should complete at least one unit to test that it functions just like the prototype, but I haven't followed up on that intention.  The fuel indicator hasn't been popular.  If you're interested, I'll dedicate the time to getting one working for you.  I haven't determined a price just yet because I have to determine my costs; it's going to be around the $20- $25 mark I suspect.

would love to try one Robert.  sign me up!  getting tired of staring in the fuel filler hole or guessing from the miles.  a simple LED setup in the dash is cleaner than cutting a hole in the fairing for an analogue gauge.

thanks!
