Good news for me, a '86K75 for someone else.
« on: April 29, 2015, 12:47:23 AM »
Hi Everyone!

I've been on this site for a while. It's been a big help as I brought my original K back to life ('86K75) a few years ago. It's been a help since I bought a '94K75, last spring, too.

I found out this year I'm going to be a father and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm not going to stop riding, but I really can't justify having a second fully functional K when there is plenty I need to save my money for. So I'm looking to sell my original Brick.

Not quite ready to put it onto craiglist here in Chicago for a couple of reasons, first of which is that the bike is currently still in storage up in Wisconsin (friend's farm in Freedonia). Thought I'd mention it here first in case a motobricker wanted first dibs (and a discount if i don't have to move the bike down to Chicago before selling.)

I'll eventually post it on Craigslist for probably around $2800. Definitely willing to drop $500 from the price if i can sell it before moving it down to chicago (maybe as soon as this weekend, if possible)

some info for folks.

I got the bike in 2012. the bike had 132k or so, but it had sat for a long time in a basement (otherwise very well taken care of). It wasn't running at the time because the rubber had broken down and got sucked into the fuel pump and injectors. got it running after a few weeks (and replacements of the broken down hoses and the clogged items.) It's been running great ever since. It's at 138K now. routine maintenance throughout my ownership. including lube splines each season. (and seemingly well maintained by prior owners, aside from the long storage)

Here is a list of what's been replaced/done with the bike.

All rubber in contact with fuel was changed right away.
new fuel pump (automotive replacement,)
injector's ultrasonically cleaned.
(now the bike was running!)

tires bought and installed in 2012
Valves adjusted
brake mastercylinder piston replaced (rubber went hard here too, brake fluid replaced)
coolant/oil pump shaft replaced (see image in album. both seals failed as the shaft was way pitted. zero problems once replaced)
replaced original shock with the one from my "newer" K. (12K miles)
replaced original drive shaft with the one from my "newer" K. (12k miles)
bought some original road cases (old style lock)
aftermarket wind screen
aftermarket grip heaters (switch is in a strange place but it works and easily moved. again, see album)
Also a small USB cable available at the dash to charge phones or GPS. easily removed/moved if desired.

If anyone has questions please let me know!
