removing old grips?

I bought some new grips[progrip 669] to replace my original [hard ] ones. I have heated grips [K75s], how do I get the old ones off without damaging the othe parts?

greetings...

very sharp knife very carefully... make a slice longways and peel them off... if you damage the heating elements or wires you will need to replace them... lottsa motobrickers use symtec...

to install your new grips you gotta make sure you know which one is throttle side... its slightly larger... getts some sticky hairspray... the old aerosol spray can type... spray down the existing nubbs and spray inside the new grips... the hairspray will be slippery for a moment... slide them on... then dot touch them... the hairspray will set up and adhere them together... it has to be the old style grandma hairspray... the new stuff wont dry and harden like the old stuff...

once hardened you are good to go...

thanks, seemed to me me the easiest way would be to cut them off, but I didn't want to do that if it would screw up my [original?] heaters. I'll be careful and go for it.

You can spray a little WD40 or cooking spray using a straw between the grip and bar, then twist a little until the lube distributes. Then the grip will slip off.

Or without lube you can use an air compressor and spray air into the gap and loosen the grip up.

Use compressed air!  I saw it on utube and tried it and it works great.  Use a rubber tipped blow tip and work it under the edge.  It will inflate the grip like a ballon!  It's amazing how well it works, it saves your old grips, and you don't risk cutting the heating wires on your heated grips.  It works for putting them back on too.
