Don't know if this has been seen before, but I was putting a manual fan switch on my recently purchased K100RS and found that the fan didn't work.
Took the radiator and fan off the bike and popped the motor cover expecting to see the oft mentioned melted brush holders, but everything looked good with just a bit of road dust. A little trouble shooting revealed that one of the brushes was not getting power even though everything worked down to the brush holder. Connecting a test lead to the solder terminal on the brush holder and touching the brush made the fan run.
Not wanting to spend the money for a fan motor I got some 18AWG bare copper wire and wrapped a turn around the brush and soldered it to the wire that goes to the brush. Motor works fine now and should be good for another 90,000 miles
