Rear shock orientation
« on: October 29, 2014, 02:00:30 PM »
Should the stock rear shock be mounted with the chrome rod up or down? I think my shock is upside down right now and I've read about the shock not dampening right if it isn't made to be mounted in either way. When riding two up it bottoms out sometimes (preload set to max) but I figured that's due to the spring being worn and I've been planning on having my old Progressive rebuilt over the off season

The OEM shock won't last forever either, and I don't think it can be rebuilt like your Progressive. If it's bottoming out it's probably shot.

It was a $25 way to get me by for a while...it's still dampening though, least to an extent

What progressive model are you hoping to get rebuilt? If it's the 420 you're probably SOL - bladder replAcement parts discontinued and unavailable.

I have a phone call saying they can't...plus I sent it to klaus at EMP who knows his ch1t but when he tried to order the parts the well was dry ... No suppliers anywhere.

but I think we've been thru this I an earlier thread before, I'd look into it before depending On it.

Yes, the issue regarding the rebuild-ability of this Progressive shock has been discussed. When I get around to sending it in we'll see what happens. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll send me a new one...

At any rate, it's been a few days but I looked at my OEM shock...I do have it mounted with the rod down actually but its began leaking...nevermind this thread  :swear:
