Water oil mixing. Need help. Emulsified oil
« on: August 30, 2014, 01:48:13 PM »
Gents,

Need help.

I bought a k1100 and found that it had emulsified oil. The water, when drained was clear and clean, ie it seems the water went into the oil but not the other way.

I have rebuilt the water/oil pump. It was dirty and the weep hole completely plugged. Flushed the engine, changed filters etc.

The engine seemed fine, i took it through a heat cycle while on the bench ( ran it till the fan turned on a few times). No issues.

I then did the breaks ( this is info only) and after i cam back from the test run, up and down the street, 30mph max, 3rd gear only, higher revs but ninredline.  The oil is now cloudy again.

There is nothing coming out of the water oil weep hole.

Not sure if i should pull the head, or is there a common problem im not aware of.

Help me decide what to do. Picture of my project for consumption and reference.

I might suggest you check the coolant relief cap. If it's not able to relieve the pressure, the water is going to go somewhere/somehow.......

Also check the core plugs under the timing chain cover.

Corrosion, from the water side.

If you're talking about the main coolant cap FR side of the tank, my experience is that if that is clogged and not relieving pressure, the bike just overheats...I could be remembering wrong tho...many critical brain cells rendered ineffective in the late 70s.
