K75 fork sliders - sand and paint
« on: November 07, 2013, 03:20:22 PM »
Unless advised otherwise, I'd just tape off the seal caps and tubes, degrease, prep-all, sand, clean, prime with rustoleum automotive primer and 2 coats of rustoleum satin black.

Any better ideas? I know the rustoleum will nick and ding pretty quick...

Your plan seems sound, primer may not be required(but won't hurt) on sound sanded paint but necessary if you go to metal.Best durability (apart from 2K through spraygun) I have found is Simoniz Tough Satin Black aerosol,Rustoleum may be better or worse:I've never come across it,guess options & brand availability varies UK to USA.

Thanks -- I went with Rustoleum black satin 'cause that's what was recommended here:

http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/pcodes.htm

as a good match for the BMW standard black (engine, tranny, covers etc). I tried some other stuff but it was either too glossy or too flat.
