Finally got the new fuel pump in today and can now hear it pressurizing when I hit the starter button. Replaced the filter while I was at it too.  Starter turns it over, but it won't start.  Don't hear even 1 pop of combustion.  Was very careful to make sure pos & neg connections were correct.  Will have a chance to ck spark tomorrow.  I had a tender on the battery since morning & it's still not topped off, so I also think pulling the battery & having a load test on it tomorrow isn't a horrible idea.

FYI I made a bushing from 2 1/8"OD and 1 3/4" OD submersible hosing to take up the gap between the NAPA pump and the vibration damper which worked great.

Thanks for all the info.

Curious to hear how this ends, having a similar problem here http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=4657

Thanks for the info on the NAPA pump KzooKRS Hearing the 'click, click' on my fuel pump...or maybe that's the motronic. Might empty the tank a bit to see if mine whirrls the fuel around. It's hard to hear it over the ignition.

Interesting. I did the swap of the 4pin tank lead (soldered in a trailer connector). 3 days later things, started to get weird. Bike would not restart after a run 50% of time. Some times pump but no spark. Sometimes lights would go out. Sometimes nothing but click and no juice anywhere.  Finally enlisted a pro and tracked down bad brushes in starter motor. Was causing intermitent shorts/fluctations across several systems (pump, motronic, load shed relay, alternator, ignition). $15 in parts later all is right with the world again. Go figure...
