nasty fuel leak
« on: February 08, 2013, 08:55:05 AM »
Hi. a few days ago while  on a ride ( K100 )  i experienced  a nasty petrol leak. petrol poured  down the  left  side  near  the  foot rest over the  exhaust pipes. you can imagine  i got the fright of my life. switched off stat. got hold of a friend  to have a look. behind  what i understand to be the throttle  bodies we  espied  a  black fuel pipe running horizontally towards the rear. between 3 and 4 a 90 degree turn downwards into a receptacle male pipe which i took to be the press regul. am i right? the  fuel pipe had come adrift at this junction. my friend  coaxed the  pipe back on and i got home safely . question i must ask is how  does one repair this ? ie. the procedure sequence and replace new fuel pipes. the pipe has been crimped on. i will remove this and  replace  with a quality clamp. i need help please. never done any mechanical work on  this 86 K100 RS. Yeah, it sounds like you should replace the fuel lines and clamps (if they're the crimped type).  Get real injection clamps as the cheap worm-type are not the best for injection systems.

Check down the list in here (workshop) I think there are a couple of fuel line threads. (as far as length, and type).

You'll need three feet of either 5/16 or 8mm fuel line.  Make sure it's fuel line that's pressure rated for fuel injected systems.
