I saw this on Craigslist in Atlanta a couple of months ago while searching for a Goldwing or something along those lines.  I saw a Youtube video of a brick and knew I had to have it.  Guy was asking $3k and we agreed on $2300.  His Dad has owned this bad ride for about 15 years and only put a handful of miles on it.  All the maintenance records were included; but as it hasn't been driven much...ouch.

I forgot how many miles are in (she's back in the shop again).  Maybe 30k?  This is the sexiest motorcycle I've ever seen.  She's no beauty queen but my God man she can purrrrr...

Here are some pictures of my K taken near our summer cabin on the south coast of Iceland. My wife gets a break from painting and takes the K for a spin.  :2thumbup:

Deep breath...I can do this...

Finished resurrecting my '83 Honda VF750F, so now I've got my '85rt staring wantonly at me, wondering if we'll ever ride together again (this, after a driveway spill which cosmetically 'compromised' her).

- I've gathered all the necessary body parts from eBay, so it's off to the body & paint shop with the lot. Tangerine orange (lower those eyebrows, please. It'll work nicely)
- Upgraded to LED dash kit (thanks, Drake)
- Have fork gaiters at the ready (thanks, Drake)
- Progressive fork springs to install
- Upgraded (bastardizing) LED rear turn signals to install
- HID kit (w/'matchbox' relay and 14 gauge wiring)
- Engine guards to recondition and install (an eBay steal )

BMW meet in Salem (hour from here) coming up and I'm determined to show up.

Here is my "new" K75. Windshield is broken and I'd like to find crashbars and a back box (+ it's holders), clutch cable broke on second day, but really like this despite of these little faults.

All K1's have that grab rail. It's just that if the seat cowl is on, you can't see it.

Love those K1s in the ketchup and mustard paint.  Maybe I just have had mental lapse every time I have seen a K1, butI don't ever remember seeing that small black rack on the tailpiece before. Is that normal or is that an option?

Hi all,

Long time BMW Rider here! Have had many K Bikes in the past (and present), but I just picked up this beauty the first week of June! Flew out to Dallas and rode it home to Boston! 1993 Silk Blue K1! Rumor has it that BMW only brought in 23 in this color and I have always wanted one!

Cheers, Phil

Gotta love a woman who can control a K Bike cross country!!!!

She is a born rider that woman. She had never ridden motorcycles when we met fifteen years ago. When I discovered that she however had a MC drivers license, I gave her three hours with a Road Instructor as a birthday gift. She practiced with the Road Instructor on a Honda CB 250 for three hours, and right after that she started practicing on our ex-Police Harley Davidsson Electra Glide under my supervision. After that summer on the Harley, she rides any bike that comes her way with style.

Here is a before and after of my bike that I bought sight unseen. The paint was getting beat up and then somebody backed over it in a parking lot so their insurance company paid me to repaint it.

My first BMW, 1991 K75s ABS, third owner, 27,000 miles. I've been riding and building old bikes for thirty-three years and this bike is soooo nice to ride!

Lots of ways to say it's terrible. But there are some amazing details, things you never see on a custom K, in addition to the body work: Lots of work on the frame to get the seat so low (where did he put the brain?); custom tank (see the fuel filter? where is the pump?); whole different front end and controls and instruments.... and check out the straight pipes! I think it's cool.
