Police flasher box running/tail light splice location?
« on: January 11, 2026, 08:40:51 PM »
May I please have help with finding possible always-hot splice locations for police flashers?
My 1985 K100RT has a “Priority-Plus SOS – Sound Off Safety Inc.” black box in the tail section (see attached). Searches say that is an aftermarket emergency siren / priority flasher module, typically sold to: Police motor units, Escort bikes, Volunteer responder vehicles, Parade / funeral escort setups.
It seems part of that package included a relay for the tail light, which I've removed at it fused. Also the emergency flasher from the dash was disconnected. I've resoldered, and works if Key is in On position.
Now my (front) running light, and tail light are always on (regardless of Key position) if Fuse #2 is installed.

Use wiring to the special equipment plug powered by fuse #5. Fuse #2 is dedicated to the parking lights—front and rear. Use the schematic at the link below to find your way around.

Laitch, thank you for that version of the schematic.
My question is the other way around. I'm looking to de-populate the police flasher box, but still have one parasite feed I'm having trouble finding.
Was hoping this was a common enough occurrence, someone could lead me to the splice point, without me have to take off the tank and a bunch of fairing and trim to find it.

Anyone have a clever idea how to switch Fuse #2 on and off, other than manually pulling and re-installing it, every time you ride at night?

I'll guess that if you remove the black box from the tail section you will find some wiring still connected to the rear lights. Another way, remove the two thumbscrews in your photo, to remove the rear light assembly, and you might see some aftermarket wiring connected there.

I'm looking to de-populate the police flasher box,
Do you have mice or insects nesting in that box, or does that mean "disconnect?" :laughing4-giggles:
