Hello from Connecticut

Been riding 40 years, mostly Triumphs and Harleys. Owned German cars a few times, learned the hard way 'there's nothing more expensive than a cheap used German car'. That said, I've been intrigued by the K bikes since they were new.

So....my brother called to say he picked up a '89 k75c cheap, do I want it, because he knows.

I'm now the proud owner of a running k bike with 27k miles on it. We got it running yesterday. Still a lot of work to sort it out, a full factory level maintenance and repairing whatever's shorted in the turn signal circuit.

I'll have it home in a couple weeks, after I clear the trailer and make some room in the garage.

For the time being 'hi' and I'll be doing a lot of reading.

Welcome!  Sounds like you're making good headway.  The classic K bikes are the best machines that any part of BMW has made in the past 40 years, maybe more.  The C models are pretty rare, and are much sought after.

@the mighty griffin, what makes a 75c any more or less desirable?

The C model doesn't have the big fairings for a more classic look.  They aren't as clumsy as the other models.
From what I've seen, they usually sell faster and for slightly higher prices as well.

The C has a rear drum brake. In theory not as good as a disc but in practice I've found that the rear drum brake on early Ks works fine.

ABS is not available on a C if that matters to you.

The C and standard have a more upright riding position than an S which some people prefer. (The S bars are better for spirited riding though.)

88 and earlier K75s have early "smoky" rings.

The C has a smalll winscreen that elminiates chest blast vs. a standard naked K75.

Marakesh Red K75S is the fastest K75 ever made.
