Fuel system test setup

Here's my test set up for checking out just the fuel system on a K100. Since I had a spare fuel pump, I sat it in a Chinese to-go, large soup container. Ran the fuel output in to the rail. Used a stand alone a battery to power the pump.
Didn't get a picture, but I pulled the injectors out of the engine, but left them connected to the rail, and the electrical harness. Turned the key on, and hit the Starter button. It was a good way to see which injectors were functioning correctly, and which weren't. Soaking all the injectors in the Gunk Parts Cleaner can now.

Yes, gas sprayed all over. Yes, lotsa safety "should-haves". Did have the shop doors opened.

Nice, I have always thought about that but have never tried it. Was there some reason to not use the bikes fuel pump?

Since a previous owner had cut some wires under the tank, and I wanted to inspect the Ignition Control Module (under the tank) it seemed easier (?) to rig up this secondary fuel system, without involving the tank.

Anyway. Better late than never. For your injector testing: get a 9v batt. connect + to + and set a ground wire up to the 9v batt. get a can of carb cleaner and spray it into the intjector while spraying connect the -
This will both test and clear/clean the injector (cheapest way possible)
A closed connector in a cleaner wont do much since the gunk has to be dissolvable for it to be able clear in the cleaner.

Also the 9 volt batt will be able to power your fuel pump - i tried this after rebuilding one.

Also at the very least run the pressurized fuel line trough a lid so wont be able to contaminate the fuel. Or make it a little harder to turn your shed into the local heating station.
