Clutch cable
« on: April 08, 2025, 07:35:36 AM »
Hi all I have a 1986 k100rs that I am currently restoring. The clutch cable nipple has started popping out at the lever end is this because the cable is on the limit of it`s stretch or is the lever worn ?  Cheers

Do you have an image of the cable at the problem area?

The metal nub end of the cable fits into this barrel; the barrel fits into the clutch hand lever. You've lost the barrel. The barrel (nipple holder)/hand lever assembly should be greased regularly during riding season. The photo below is from the Max BMW parts fiche in New Hampshire. The part is found in the Steering section's cable diagram.

Somebody was messing with the clutch and forgot to put it back. That part does not just fall out and escape.

+1 on keeping it greased.

Mystery over I found a bent c washer. I think this was jammed behind the nipple and had fallen out. Glad it happened at home.

No c-washer in the assembly of my Brick nor one in the parts list. What's your decision for a remedy?
