K1100RS with a Corbin seat, any Hinge/Attaching advice?
« on: October 24, 2021, 02:37:46 PM »
I’ll admit I’ve been riding with this seat simply set on the bike, and haven’t really cared. I would like to make it more secure if possible. The PO gave me the old seat hinge and pieces, but my efforts convince me I need something else. Is there a specific hinge you get when you buy the seat originally?

If the bottom edges of your moto's seat are parallel to the road, you have a standard Corbin-style bench seat and can take inventory using this diagram and parts list from Max BMW. It is comprised of parts attached to the seat and attached to the tail cowl.

Thank you for the Ref material! I did also find the Seat info post on the site related to the ‘93 - on seat. Looks like I will need some earlier year hinge parts. It’s a bit confusing. What’s an RT? I know LT and RS.

The RT is a lower level of touring bike.  The K75RT and the K100RT.  There was no K1100RT.  Later versions of the K100 were identified as LT models.  As far as I know there never was a K75LT

Basically, the LT was the RT fairing with upgrades like an electrically adjustable windshield, cigar lighter and map light.  I may be wrong, but I think the "Comfort" seat was standard on the LT while it was an option on the RT.

Which parts don't you have, according to the fiche parts list I posted?

Please put your moto's model year next to the model type in your signature. It will clarify things in the future.

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

I am looking for the way to modify my Signature,….  Does not pop out at me pushing different buttons here. Please tell me how to Edit and save.  Thanks!

Profile > Modify Profile > Forum Profile (in the drop-down menu when you put the mouse over Modify Profile)

.    DONE Thanks!

Looks like I need to source the early hardware. Might have some luck with the Local Independent Shop, Sport Cycle  pacific. Dave has quite a few K bikes in his parts lot.  I have this, and am missing the hold open link:
