Replace master front cylinder with aftermarket?
« on: March 12, 2019, 09:46:58 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm tired of wasting money on my front brakes...

I've put a new sleeve, a repair kit, and the front brakes get hot and start locking after riding 5km...

Is there a way of replacing it with an aftermarket with some mods? I haven't ridden my bike properly for almost a year!!!

Thanks

If the Master and lines are known to be good, and the brakes are still getting hot after a short ride, I would rebuild the pistons with a kit that can be purchased from several places (Motobins is in the UK.) The pads may be dragging more than you think. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I put a new stainless sleeve inside the master cylinder, and I've put a new kit as well... :(

No ideas for an aftermarket replacement of the front master cylinder?

No bolt-on, aftermarket OEM replacement seems available. You'll need to install either original equipment parts or an entirely new brake lever/master cylinder, throttle assembly from a different manufacturer.

Are you certain the pistons in the front brake calipers are able to move smoothly and retract sufficiently? They might be too dirty to work correctly regardless of the master cylinder's condition.
