'94 K75 Exhaust Sleeve
« on: November 23, 2018, 02:48:18 PM »
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I spent $5.50 on a sheet of copper to make a sleeve between the header and the muffler. I tried using copper gasket goo. It didn't hold up. After some adjusting the copper to size, I went for a test run today. No more popping.
I have added connectors to run my Gerbings gear. On today's test run I plugged in the controller for the under jacket. It worked fine. I also ran the K with the running lights and the heated grips too. The whole system is doing alright.

Cheers,
Bill

Nice looking K.  It's a shock to me to see such a pristine 22L top case, mine is so beat up and covered with stickers,  I cut up a beer can for that gasket, but I think my aftermarket pipe fits a little tighter than the stock one.

Great looking ride. I'm across the river from you in Waldorf. Where'd you get the hub cover for the rear wheel, or did you make it? Cheers

Chaos - A few weeks ago I stopped in at Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD. Dean, parts guy, commented on the resale value of my storage. I'm keeping it!
Inside the case is a SAE plug, 12v socket and USB. I can charge the battery or use the connections to charge my phone etc.

natalena - The hub cover was on the wheel when I bought the K in Warrenton, VA. Most K75s are cheaper than what I paid, but I wouldn't want to switch bikes. For one thing, I have ABS, just in case. You know how lousy drivers are in my neighborhood.

I hear you Bill. Rode in AM traffic to Georgetown, once, not planning on doing that again, although parking was a breeze.
I likewise have the top case, and like it for snacks and rainsuit, but the bike rack gets in the way for now.

Cheers, Michael
