K100 tires
« on: July 28, 2018, 11:23:05 AM »
Hi. I have finally saved enough allowance to be able to retire my '85 K100 bike. I am looking at a comparison of these two tires on ebay: Continental Go set for $234.16, and Michelin Pilot Activ set for $294.96.  the Contis were recommended by my local tire shop, and the Michelins were recommended by my local BMW shop. My question is: is it worth $60 more to get the Michelins?

You can get Pilot Activs for $239 per set and ContiGos for $188 shipped free from AMT online. So that drops the difference to $51.  I doubt an ordinary rider could tell the difference in performance.

Shinko Tourmasters sell at AMT for $128 per pair shipped. Gryph has ridden to Hell and back on them, or did in the past, anyway. Maybe he hasn't made it back yet from his last trip. :giggles

Laitch - thanks for the tip. It was suggested to me that the Pilots May be a bit better in wet conditions. How about longevity?
