K100 LT Crash bar mounting.

Hi

Has anyone managed to repair the right lower crash bar mounting. It seems impossible to find her in the UK. The rubber part has come unstuck leaving the front vibrating away.
The part number is 46712303068Thanks in advance for your help

I glued one but thats not a long term fix.


What could be done is grind all the rubber away, drill a hole where the stud should be and use a bolt and a thick rubber washer.


That's my first thought and not looking at the part and mounting.

Over here is the US I would try McMaster Carr to get a similar replacement part.  I don't know if they do international shipping.

What the hell good are crash bars with breakaway mounts??? 

I had them break loose tearing a big hole in the fairing when the bike just got knocked off it's stand in the garage.  All they do is add a couple hundred bucks to the damage for those stupid mounts that cost $42 each.

The very early models didn't have these rubber mounts, then the oil pan did break instead...........

Wreck the oil pan or the fairing?   Along with all the stuff that gets dinged if they weren't there.

I call them, "in case I lay by bike down gently" bars.


They are also good mounting points for my aux. driving lights.

Ditto on that one. I went down on a slick wet dirt road a while back.  The break away guards did more damage to the fairing than anything the road did! :falldown:  I left um off.

Yea, they don't do much good if the bike is moving other than tear up more.
Now, on the other side of the coin, I've tipped mine over more that once and the bars did prevent further fairing damage. YMMV
