Thanks Laitch. No luck in the US so far for the clips. I found the grommets on eBay.

Dealer should be able to order them. I did a couple years ago but never installed them. The tank doesn't move much

You're the man today sir! Just ordered them from the local dealership. Was told a lot of the fuel tank parts have been discontinued.

A lot of people, myself included, do not use the clips, in fact Chris Harris tells you to take them off and throw them away.

I also ordered my clips from the dealer, had them within days..as well as the grommets

Chris has a video rant about those clips, his reasoning is in an accident the clipped pins can rip out of the tank spilling gas.  I lost mine many years ago and have had no ill effects without them.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm sure it's perfectly fine to forgo the clips/grommets for k-bikes in stock form. For custom setup, that may not be the case. My custom seat does help to secure the tank, but it does wiggle up and down. I'll give the clips a try and see.

On the K75s the side covers are held in place by the petrol tank. Depending on how tight the grommets are, and how much fuel you have, and how big of a bump you hit, it is possible for the rear of the tank to jump up and free the side covers.

The degree of danger associated with using tank-holding clips amounts to a tempest in an accumulator cup. :giggles

With fresh grommets on teh rear of the tank my side covers are always sketchy at the tank connection.  Ive had my tank off a few times but cant envision these pull clips.  Wondering what else I can tweek to get the good positive fit? Maybe carefully opening/twisting the mounting clip?

One of the other reasons for getting rid of the clips is the slight degree of difficulty in removing them. One inmate attaches thin cable ties to the clips, which can be pulled easily. I have a piece of bent wire stored under a piece of Velcro which serves a couple of purposes. I use it for tank clip removal and also for seat clip removal. I lost the original seat "C" clips years ago, so I drilled the removable seat hinge pin and the folding seat hinge pin. I now use the "R" shaped clips which are available easily and cheaply from auto supply shops and hobby shops. A mate that used to race RC cars pointed out that that is what is used to mount his body shells.
