Loctite Moly Paste

   Has anyone used Loctite moly paste 51048 for the clutch splines . I've done several search's and I can't find where anyone has used this .  I bought some and I'm going to try it unless I get a lot of negative feed back .

How much moly in it the recommended amount is 60%.

You can only try it and report, go boldly where no Brickster has gone before. Up until now (20 years)I have used Optimol paste but I managed to get hold of a tube of the old Honda paste. I was talking to a Mercury Outboard mechanic and he was telling me to use their spline lube. He reckoned it was made to work under far worse conditions than anything a bike would encounter. If you chop out your splines using it, let us know so that we know not to use it.

I stumbled on some Honda thread about this stuff, moly 60, m77, guard dog and some others that challenged all preconceived theories and literally left my head spinning.  Well lubricated at that.   I shall now purge all knowledge I acquired there.

   Wrong product , I have Loctite 51048 . I can't tell you all the differences between the the two products other than the 51048 has a heat range up to 750 degrees . I'm hoping the combination of the heat range and 65% moly this turns out to be a good product . Whats the worst that can happen .  :hehehe

It is the same product with a different number, probably because numerologists have taken over the product's marketing department and have determined the new number has more kinetic potential developing consumer attraction.

I'd use this stuff if I didn't already have a fair supply remaining of Staburags NBU 30 PTM.

I seem to recall reading that some Goldwing riders get good results from the Loctite branded stuff. Can't recall where but that may give you another search term.

MILQ, that was in  the naked Goldwing or CBX500 Forum, I think.  Saw it when doing a search on the Loctite stuff.   Was surprised to find that Honda doesn't specify Moly 60 for the splines on their bikes, but rather something or other with a lithium base.
