Overnight Fuel Leak/Purge?
« on: April 13, 2017, 09:06:13 AM »
Hello,

I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I have searched bu have not been able to solve the problem.

I have this strange thing happening where if the tank is more than 3/4 full, it will purge/leak gas. It will not do it if I am riding around during the day. It only seems to happen overnight. I have checked the vents, checked the accumulator cup and hose, cleaned out the fuel tank, etc... I have even tried de-pressurizing the fuel tank from the filler cap. Nothing!

Any links or ideas would help.

I have a 1997 K1100LT

Thanks!

Writing etc doesn't explain anything. Please be specific.
Check for a leak along the underside left seam of the fuel tank.
Check for odor of fuel in the crankcase morning and evening.
In the morning, check to see if the spark plugs are wet; one or more injectors might not be fully closing. Eventually you might need to check injector performance visually.
Pull the vacuum line that comes from the fuel pressure regulator to check if there is fuel or the smell of fuel in the line.

Well, I did not want to whip dead horses either. I think I would have been damned no matter how I approached this post. I will just have to take it I guess  :dunno

Yeap! No leaks

I will have to look into this. I would have thought that this would be a constant leak. Not one that only occurs on a full tank?

------No need, it isn't present on the K11's, different FPR than K75/100.

On the other hand, I wouldn't have wasted precious moments of my sunset years recommending you do things you'd already done. :musicboohoo: :giggles

It looks like your options are narrowing thanks to Inge K.
