VIN plate photo needed
« on: July 29, 2016, 02:22:15 PM »
Hi All,

More on the never ending nightmare that is getting my bike out of Costa Rican customs...

It turns out the original VIN number plate is missing from the frame.  Before they will release the bike to me I have to get one made and attached.

I have found someone who can make one for me - a trophy engraver - but wold love to have a photo of an original one so that they have a design to work from.

I would be very grateful if someone could snap a pic or two and post them for me.

Bike is a 1991 K100 RS so in theory the VIN plate should be on the right hand side near the foot rest.

Ps I just paid the taxes - $1780 inc a $500 fine for being in the country too long without paying... so $500 than that I paid for the bike!!

Thanks in advance for your help

My '87 K75s does have a sort of sticker on the ledt side, but the VIN number is stamped right into the downtube of the frame on the right side.

Thanks, I bet mine is stamped in to the frame as well they just can't see it.  In the end I found a place that will engrave a piece of aluminium for $10 and that will keep the customs happy so finger crossed next week I finally get it out and get to start riding/fixing it.
