Help, OIL LEAK !!!!!!!!!!
« on: June 13, 2016, 01:16:07 PM »
Noticed a little oil on the garage floor today directly underneath the Bevel Box.
Had a feel around and found the source to be where the rubber boot attaches to the final drive housing.
Please tell me this isn't going to be expensive

OK, it isn't going to be expensive.

I hope that makes you feel better, but I don't fully know WTF I am talking about.
The dealer rebuilt my final drive a couple of years ago but it's the older one. I think it was around 350 USD.

Turns out my oil leak wasn't an oil leak at all.
There was a bad connection from the radiator hose into the expansion tank.
The rubber hose was split.
Coolant was seeping out, dropping onto the swingarm, then running down and collecting at the rubber boot where it was dropping to the floor.
Enough slack in the hose to simply cut off the broken bit and re-fit.
I'm embarrassed to admit this but hope my stupidity may help someone else
