site says "Does not fit '85 K100 BMW"
but it will present the part and let me purchase.
I'm a pull da trigger... price is about throw away.    "but me time is me life" an' I would love some feedback before I pull everything apart.

I can't speak to alternative part #, but the BMW part # fits about 120+ different model/style/year bikes. It's a very common steering bearing.
Max's current cost is only about $28 each now, so not much reason to try alternative if the price is that close, and you are worried that the alternative may not fit.

All Balls publishes on their site that 22-1024 is the right one for the Ks. Available on Amazon too.

Fairly old thread, but is All-Balls to be trusted for bearings? I bought some for my swing-arm and was extremely disappointed.

It seems to me you've answered your own question, jjs. How were you disappointed—no package of M&Ms in the box?

Wrong size. Their "Grease Seal" Didn't fit.

Couldn't return the package either. The bearing had no way to stay in the race.

And no M&Ms.
