Acewell 2853 connection help
« on: December 11, 2015, 10:46:59 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the Forum - Just bought my first K bike last weekend with the idea of turning it into a cafe racer type bike for the city. I know it's a bit of a shame to change such a great bike, but I was inspired by some of the great builds people have done and really like the look of them. Anyway, I'm a bit of a novice when if comes to electrics and wanted to ask before I made a mistake - hoping someone can offer some advice here:)

Do I need to cut the wires from the instrument cluster connector and then connect them to the wires for the acewell? Or are people somehow connecting the acewell wires to the connector without cutting them? I've attached a pic of what I'm referring to. Thanks in advance for any help - was hoping to tackle it this weekend.

While you're resting, Markus, if you haven't already done this, click on the following link, type Acewell in the search box up in the right hand corner then click Search.

Thanks Laitch,

Did try searching and I can't seem to find anyone who was stuck with this same question - I think probably due to it being a pretty novice question:) I'm almost 90% sure they need to be cut away from the connector, just was hoping to hear from someone who's already done it to confirm this step. Thanks though and I'll keep looking!

Buy a Brotbox.  It's much easier to interface your Acewell through this device.
