I love my Cortec Adrenaline perforated leather jacket but I've found it to be too damn hot in the summer. I trawled ebay for a while and bought a slightly used Firstgear Mesh Tex II jacket for $49.99. I found a few forum reviews online and on motorcycle gear sites and didn't find anything bad about it and it seemed like Firstgear makes decent apparel. Jacket is marked as a medium which is what I wear in everything from T shirts to my Cortec. The jacket seems to fit me fine and isn't too big.
The jacket has a foam padded back protector, foam pads in the elbows, and foam along with CE armor in the shoulders.
I know this armor setup isn't the best, but at any rate...
I'm attempting to return it to the seller because the armor is loose and keeps moving around. My shoulders and elbows look "frumpy" and they likely wouldn't do me any good in a crash if not where they should be. And it feels uncomfortable. I played around with the inserts and it seems like the pockets in the liner that the inserts go into are too big and allow for movement. The inner fabric of the jacket also moves around too much in relation to the outer fabric. I wasn't sure of how jackets are made but my wife's Joe Rocket and my Cortec also have the armor inserts in pockets within the inner fabric but the armor doesn't move around like it does in this Firstgear jacket. For fun I put one of the shoulder armor inserts into the Firstgear jacket but didn't feel any better. Hell I even put on my wife's jacket, which actually fits me to my surprise, and those inserts felt right to me.
I thought that maybe there's snaps or something to keep the inner fabric in place with the outer fabric but couldn't find anything like that.
Aside from sending this back to the seller, do you guys have anything to share about this kind of thing?
