FAG
« on: July 02, 2015, 04:43:29 PM »
Yeah, well it got your attention, and it is causing me unending grief with several of my friends and family. So, techies, WHY does the ABS ii unit have FAG cast onto the casing?  http://www.motobrick.com/Smileys/MB_Smiley/laughing6-hehe.gif  I'm looking for the photo I took of it and will post it as soon as I find it. What does FAG stand for?  http://www.motobrick.com/Smileys/MB_Smiley/dunno2.gif

Thanks.

My guess is that it is for the German company FAG.

It means "Fischer Ltd." -- Fischer Aktiengesellschaft. Friedrich Fischer invented a machine to produce steel balls for bearings in the late 1800's.

My guess is that it is for the German company FAG.

That would also be my suggestion..

In 1905

On July 29, the FAG brand is registered with the patent office in Berlin. The registered trademark FAG, which stands for Fischers Aktien-Gesellschaft, is protected in over 100 countries today.

One of the many subsidiaries was the Schaeffler company.
According to the history of the company starting in 1955 Production of brake hydraulics parts for motor vehicles starts in the Ebern plant.
