Throttle body zip ties
« on: August 13, 2015, 12:50:07 PM »
the mechanic who worked on my K75S before I purchased it used zip ties to seal the throttle bodies. I will check for leak. If so, could this be the cause of the annoying backfire I get?

Check the crankcase breather tube it's Z shaped near the airbox above the FPR back towards the transmission.  Could also be a improperly adjusted TPS.  Or, that you are not closing the throttle all the way on deceleration.
You can't help someone who doesn't want to hear the answer.

Backfire on deceleration? As I have heard/read about this on other K-bike forums, I'll just say that it is not uncommon.
I even get it on my 1100's.

Thanks for the suggestions. I know that K bikes tend to backfire, but I don't want this one to. I will start testing for leaks and see if I can fix it. Stay tuned for the no doubt exciting results. The good thing about retirement is that you have time fool with stuff like this...

Check your TPS setting first.

When you drastically decelerate, make sure the throttle is 100% off otherwise you're still sending fuel to the combustion chamber which will cause backfiring.

You might need a new muffler gasket too.
