Coil energizes with the starter button and pulls those contacts at the top left together to run the starter. Those are the contacts that fuse together under a low battery condition causing the starter to run continuously until the battery is shot.  Can often disconnect battery and smack the relay housing while still in the relay box to free up the contacts.
