WHUUUUUUUUUUTTTT UPPP!!!
« on: February 12, 2015, 03:53:21 PM »
What's happening guys (and Gals?)!! I am new to the Forum and to K-bikes. I unfortunately became a K-rider due to a death in the family and I bought the bike so that it would stay in the family. That being said, the style of my 1994 K1100LT does not really fit my personality, though it is SUPER comfortable and fun to ride around. After much debate, I have decided that I am going to strip her down to a naked cafe bike. All of that being said, I am pumped to be on here and to get my project rolling, especially since I have a deadline at the beginning of May to have her road worthy!!

I am open to any advice you experts can give me, especially in regards to stripping down the wiring harness (what I can and can not trim out), speedo/tach replacement (already read BRM's thread about his board that I'll be purchasing), and what the best route for replacing the handlebars and headlight. I have looked around the forum for some answers but it can get a little overwhelming when you don't know exactly where to go!

I will also be selling most of my "body" parts if anyone is interested. Bike has never been wrecked. Normal wear and tear but no cracks that I am aware of. Have full OEM trunk and side cases. I will be posting stuff in the buy/sell once I get everything cataloged so feel free to hit me up if you are looking for something specific.

Cheers!

Will do, Johnny. I plan on getting a few pics loaded tonight as the deconstruction commenced a few days ago. Plus, I'm probably gonna need some advice along the way!!

Hard to strip a brick and have it look decent.  You might be able to find someone parting out an RS and switch bodywork.

Chaos, if you haven't seen the custom K streetfighter in the photo section of the Forum you really should check it out. Normally I'd agree with you but the job they did on this K made my jaw drop and ponder doing evil things I won't admit to in public ; )
