Yep.....Bought a Brick!
« on: March 08, 2015, 08:25:02 PM »
Hello All,
As the title say's we bought a 1987 K100RS!  You can tell by my name I am a boat captain.  I live in Florida but bought the "Brick" in Oregon....why????   My chief engineer insists that I fly out and Ride.  I am really looking forward to the Pacific Northwest.  So....the bike has a few issues, like had a low seat but there is a bungee cord holding the regular Corbin seat on the machine.  So after reading some posts here, I got brackets and hinges on the way.  It has 110k miles and started right up on 3 year old gas, which was removed and replaced. Oil, filters, and badges on the way.  Saw the aftermarket fuel pump modification, spline lube, and fan problems but we both are decent mechanics and will enjoy bringing her up to speed.  I am am a BMW fan and have owned several airheads over the years, but never a water or oil cooled. My first trip will be four days with the sweetheart around Eugene.  Then, if all goes well, San Francisco and across the country back home.  Will keep you posted.  Thanks for all the advise and posts....knowledge is everything.
Best Regards
Mitch  aka  Skippermitch

Thanks for the Welcome.  Sure hope we have the same amount of fun planning and talking as the ride. First stop will be Mcminville to see the Spruce Goose, then the Columbia river.  After that a run over the mountains and South in the desert to the Crater Lake and back home to the Chief's house. Again we will keep everyone posted.   Motobrick........here we go!

Best Regards all around

Ahoy Skipper,

In January of 2014 I rode my 1985 K100RT from Newport, Oregon to Orlando, Florida and down to fort myers, up to Saint, Pete, over to Winter Haven, Up to Daytona, and then back to Newport, Oregon in a little over three weeks with family and friend visits along the way. Great stuff. enjoy the slog Captain, it's awesome.
