Hey guys,
Have the clutch out on my k100. Have been doing some research and can't seem to find a definitive answer on this one yet. I know the clutch assemblies are balanced from the factory for centrifugal rotation...however on my clutch the plate with the 3 pins has some pretty good hot spots and surface has become a bit warped...nothing too drastic. My question is this...and I've heard yes and no so far. Looking at the plate itself I can see that the final operation from the factory on the surface was simply a facing operation on the lathe, it is not a flatground surface as some suspected it to be.
I am wondering, is it safe to take another .015-.030" off of the surface of this plate to clean it up and (hopefully) return it to a flattened state...or am I asking for disaster by doing this? The material lost (I assume) could easily be made up at the push rod actuator arm adjuster...but is there something I don't know about these clutches that should prevent me from trying this? I am fairly new to these K bikes so any info would help.
