to use additives or not to use additives?
« on: February 21, 2015, 05:54:46 PM »
hello folks, after getting the gear selector pin replaced on my k75s, the mechanic noticed there was a 1/2 second delay between turning the throttle and the engine revving.
he suggested using an injector cleaner as a possible solution.
i was pressed for time and $s so said i would take it home and ponder my options.

i spoke to my motorbike guru at home and he said he is not a fan of additives and gave a couple of other ideas as to what may be causing the problem.

i decided to canvas this community as to their opinions on additives.
yes or no?
thanx in advance for yr responses.
cheers, glen

greetings g4s...

me dont think its the injectors... me thinks the throttle cable or the throttle position sensor needs to be fixt up...

butts i do run injector cleaner often... i use chevron techron concentrate plus... i go whack with the stuff... butts a more appropriate way would be 1/2 20oz bottle in back to back full tanks of no corn ethyl...

red line it... hoe shot it... getts you some yeeehaaaaa...

+ 1 on tehcron, good stuff especially with a near 30 yr ol FI!  On the day I bought my 87 brand new the salesman showed me how it will hesitate if you whack the throttle open from idle.  Shouldn't be noticeable in normal riding but it's there if you look for it, nature of the beast.

I was going to say along the same lines as Chaos, there is some inherent delay if you look for it. You could have a little more delay due to the air flow meter if it has a little drag to it.
TPS, AFM, dirty injectors, spark plugs, fuel filter, age of fuel, air filter(least likely unless you store it where mice can make a nest in the air box) all will have effect on throttle response.
