Quick question re final drive / shaft alignment
« on: December 23, 2014, 10:40:47 AM »
Just about to put final drive back on and maybe due to working on MG shaft drive, realised that had not read anything suggesting that shaft/drive alignment was critical - ie as long as the splines engage both sides should still be balanced - correct?

(On the goose - final drive seperates within the shaft which has painted index lines for re-alignment)

On the K75S, the shaft is a single piece unit and needs no special orientation.  On the 8V models with Paralever final drive, the shaft needs to be "phased" just like the MG.

That's what I figured but thanks for confirming rbm ... I did wonder if splines tended to wear together and if re-alignment (as they were) was preferable - but then again if there was uneven wear between splines re-locating may be a good thing. Enquiring minds etc

Second fellow k-bike (and MG) owner I've met on this forum btw
