Hi all:

This looks like a forum.  I've already learned a lot from what little I've read.

I have a 1990 K75RT that I bought new way back then.  THe bike has 22,500 miles but was in storage for 1 years while I worked overseas.  I'm in the process of tearing it apart to lube the various splines, and replacing old rubber bits and seals.  Also doing various upgrades to make it better.  My idea is to get the bike rebuilt to last another 20 years as retirement starts in 7-8 years and the I hope the serious riding starts then.  My job and family are not permitting much time in recent years and no doubt the same going forward.

All tips and suggestions are appreciated.

I out in a new fuel pump and replaced all hoses and rubber parts in the tank in August as the gasoline got to it.

I'm doing an Eastern Beaver relay kit for the headlight.   Driveshaft is off to Bruno for the grease cup and getting the ujoint replaced.

I've have of seals and rubber bits coming.

All suggestions are welcome as to what I need to do as I do the rebuild.

Howdy,

Check the radiator fan.
Make sure it works.
Check your tires for cracks.
Get a new battery.
The fuel system & driveshaft splines are the weak links.
Some bikes that have sat a long time get leaks on the bottom seam of the fuel tank.
The new fuels are messing up the fuel system rubber parts.
You have already gotten a start on the most expensive repairs.

You got the right idea. Age is as big of enemy as anything. All the rubber bits are suspect. Fuel lines, o rings on injectors, vent hose on crank case, rubber bushing that joins the throttle body to the engine are a few I'd replace.
