proper protocol for new brake pads and fluid
« on: September 01, 2013, 11:39:40 PM »
Hi all,

Is there a handy guide or forum posting on doing the front and rear pads and the fluid in one session? Meaning: do I do the pads first, then the fluid? Does it matter? It's my first time doing these procedures on the K, but I've done them on other vehicles.

Thanks,

i replace pads 1st... then bleed to abs modulator till it runs clear... then bleed to caliper till it runs clear...

slide clear vinyl hose over bleed nipple as not to lose and fluid... drain it into soft drink bottle so i can cap it afterwards...

put paper towels or newspaper or aluminum foil where fluid can leak or squirt... ready for soapy clean up if necessary...

open bleed valve... slowly pull lever / push pedal... hold and close bleed valve... let up on lever / pedal... repeat... the key is slowly slowly slowly... dont let your reservoirs go dry...
