Rotating the engine
« on: July 13, 2013, 12:59:30 PM »
I'm planning on checking the timing on my 85 K100RT and I am using the static method with a TDC indicator.

my question is, how do you rotate the engine as to get it to stop at TDC.

The old "R" series used the allen wrench on the alternator method.
But how do you do it on the K100?

Remove the HES cover and turn the engine at the front end of the crankshaft.

There's a popular Youtube video floating about on how to do the k100 timing.  The mechanic rotates the engine from the exhaust cam using a 17mm (I think) wrench.  I am amazed it works but sceptical whether it is the best method.
