Keys for City Cases
« on: March 14, 2013, 04:20:38 PM »
I have acquired one city case for my brick. The problem is that the PO did not have a key for it. Anyone know of a place to get the old style keys for the horrible locks on the 1st gen city cases?

You get locks and keys for city cases at Motorworks in the UK. http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=40&Ct=WA&SbCt=BA_15_40_WA_30&spPage=1

I was not thinking of replacing the locks, I just wanted a key. If I have to replace the lock, I will change to the newer style.

On my bike the same key fits on everything, ignition, seat, the "beauty box", tank and two locks on each city case. I bought a blank folding key, and had it cut after the original key. Is there some older type of key on your city case?

Yeah, the early cases (1st gen) had a completely different type of key. Looks like a cheap key for a suitcase. This also holds true for any first generation case for the flying brick, standard or city case.

Drop an email to Motorworks or Motobins in the UK and they will know.

Hi,

The older keys pop up from time to time on Ebay.  Some shapes are no longer available unfortunately (such as the set I am missing) so there was a movement on one of the other K-bike forums to accumulate a "library" of keys that could be copied.  It didn't really take off.
