GPI running hot?

This morning I noticed that the face of the tach near the GPI seems to be buckling/blistering. My thoughts are that this is either atmospheric/age related, or due to the GPI getting hot and burning up the gauge face.

Anyone else seen this? Should I be concerned I'm going to burn up the whole dash?

All I can offer is that I have an '88 K75S with 91,000 miles, and it has no indication of overheating around the GPI.

Do you park in direct sun? Maybe it's the rest of the gauge face getting absurdly hot and softening around the indicator bezel behind the face.

I must be really dense.  For the life of me, I can't think of what "GPI" stands for.  I even googled it. ??? Somebody help an old man out.

edit: figured it out: Gear Position Indicator.  and now it see the bubble.  that is strange.  I've heard of the plastic bubbling from too much sun but it is strange that it is just located over the GPI.

Do you park in direct sun?

I'm in New England, and generally the bike is not in direct sun.

I reached out to Rick at Overseas Speedometer, I described what I'm seeing, and he's said he's seen a similar condition on other bikes and had assumed that it was just the GPI pushing on the gauge face, rather than getting hot and softening/melting things. He said he'd take a look at my image and get back to me to confirm it jives with what he's seen. He didn't seem to think I needed to worry about burning things up. I feel a little better, though it certainly looks to me like the face is being cooked.
