Is it really possible to replace the clutch cable boot?
« on: February 02, 2013, 02:32:34 PM »
So I discovered the boot was torn on the bottom end of the clutch cable.  The cable seems fine, works well, no broken strands.
When I went to the fiche, I found that BMW sells just the boot, so I ordered one since I was ordering some other stuff.
No that I have it, I don't know how it could possibly be a replacement part.  The opening on the one end is about the size of a pencil lead and the rather large barrel on the end of the cable doesn't come off.

Thoughts?  Anyone done this?  Should I have just replaced the cable. :hmm:

Insert something about a camel and the eye of a needle here.

I've always wondered why they sell that boot seperately. :dunno

That boot isn't really necessary.  You might want to carry a spare clutch (& throttle) cable though.  I do on my bikes.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.
