Repair manual
« on: November 24, 2012, 02:09:55 PM »
I am getting ready to tackle the problems with my 85 K100. What type of repair manual should I buy? Is the a "holy grail" of manuals?
I am a non-mechanical, soon to be self-taught wrench! Thanks in advance for your help....

You can get a free copy of the BMW manual here: http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,2252.0.html

Those are made for shop mechanics.  If you need something a little more descriptive and written for home mechanics then there are Haynes and Clymer manuals available. Haynes are OK but the Clymer is a little more in-depth.  Between the two I'd get the Clymer.

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Clymer has two for the K-bikes that look pretty much the same. One is as shown by Frankenduck, and one looks similar, but only lists models through 1989 on the cover. I've got a 1990 K75, naked, althought the VIN shows up as K75C, but snagged this book nonetheless. Not sure there's much difference between the 1989 and the 1990, as far as my bike goes. Anyone else know fur shure?

They most likely revised it for then K1, K100RS4V and ABS for the 90+ later edition.

In that case it would probably be fine for macman as well.

Both available on Amazon.com today, starting from $10.73 used.
