K75RT Mystery Bracket

Hi

I've been putting my 1995 K75RT swingarm back together after a while, and I forgot what this bracket does. it's sized to fit an FD bolt, but doesn't line up with the speedo lead or brake line.

Any ideas?

It looks like the bracket that fits on the caliper bolt that secures the grommet for the speedo sensor wire. Maybe you found a spare when reassembling.

The grommet indicated by the blue arrow in both attached images fits into the bracket indicated by the blue rectangle to support the rear brake hose.

Martin is correct.  It goes onto the lower rear caliper bolt to hold the speedo sensor grommet.

The spot for the rear brake hose grommet is built into the swing arm.

I finally walked up to my shop, which is a mile and a half away from my house, to refresh my memory regarding this assembly. A bracket like the one indicated in JD's photo seems already in position on JD's rear caliper and is holding the grommet through which the speedometer cable seems to pass. It would clarify the situation if somebody would post a photo of how the out-of-position bracket in JD's photo would function because I don't get it. Below is how my setup looks, after traversing mud last season's mud. The caliper bolt-mounted cable bracket is indicated by the blue arrow. The secondary cable bracket is indicated by the yellow arrow. The cable-bracket-that-I-don't-have-or need's  attachment bolt is indicated by the red circle.

The 4 swing arm to final drive bolts are all just an M10 bolt and a washer. No brackets.

I couldn't agree more but the existential reason for this bracket is what JD and I are attempting to deduce, especially because there already seems to be one in operation.

You're absolutely correct! I compared it to the bracket already in place for the speedo cable and it's a match. So the previous owner(s) must have run out of flat washers but had one of these brackets lying around instead. Mystery solved!

Washer shortages—another tragic consequence of Covid/supply line problems.    With a little ingenuity, that bracket could become a cupholder.
