So on the afternoon of June 1, I set out from our home near Taos to meet some friends in Colorado loaded thusly:

I rode the 250 or so miles to Lincoln Gulch campground on the Aspen side of Independence Pass mostly in the dark, getting there around 11pm in time for beer and other imbibe-ables until the moon set behind the mountains around 2 or 3am.

Needless to say, the next day we were all very excited about the prospect of skiing on the mushy slush from the un-frozen night before.

The answer? More Beer!

Yup, things were pretty boney alright,

But who cares!

At first, it skiied kinda ok...

Then - the mushy slushy snow snakes started grabbin' us.

We came, we skied (sort of), we were conquered.

Later that afternoon, I took a ride about to sample the local mountain beauty, of which there is plenty in the Aspen area.
This was right in the campground area:

The Most Photographed Vista in all of Colorado, the Maroon Bells.

Sunday morning came, and as the skiing the day before was so inspiring, there was nothing for it but to pack up and head home.

Tried to make a vid of the twistaliciousness that is Colorado Highway 82 up and over the pass, but the road service is pretty rough, and my camera mount was not up to the task - must improve on this.
Good Times!

Many thanks to my friend "StinkyMonday" on
telemarktips.com for the pics of his that I poached from his TR on that site.
