daft question 101
« on: May 12, 2012, 08:44:07 AM »
Ok, I feel like a right muppet asking this but how do I get the bar end weights (or covers I guess) off so I can change the grips?

Cheers

Guys

Simply loosen the outside bolts on the weight and wiggle them out, easy beans.

That was exactly my plan before realising I had no outside bolts! Its so easy on my r850 but I just can't see what to do here.

If they're factory K1100 bar ends then you need to pull the plastic cap(21) off to access the mounting bolt.

Ah ha, that looks like it, I didn't realise those were just caps or they were made out of plastic :). I take it they do just "pull" of and shouldn't need persuading?

Spin them clockwise while pulling on them. (And be careful not to tip your bike over in the process.)

Wire brush time then I guess

I've heard of electrolytic corrosion but this is pretty horrid under plastic !
