I've been off the brick for a year or two because it's been a disheartening repair experience.
Some of this is going to be faulty or incomplete due to my memory, but:
I had relatively recently replaced the fuel sender unit and o rin gasket and such in the tank.
When the bike is not running, with a full tank of gas- it will not leak a drop.
It fires up and idles beautifully. I think I gave it a few revs and it respondes as expected.
But after about 10-30 seconds, suddenly there is a GUSHING amount of gas pouring out of the engine, and I haven't been able to determine where.
It's not pouring from the from the front of the tank to the front of the fuel rail. It's not coming from the back of the rail.
but when it's pouring, all I can tell is that fuel is pouring out over the engine, and I can't pin down the source.
From the bottom of a pressurized tank?
From the regulator?
Something in the throttle bodies?
I've finally just taken the fairing apart, and the regulator out.
THere's plenty of indications that there's a leak somewhere on the back of the plenum, but I'm not sure from where.
The fuel lines in and out of the regulator seem solid.
The vacuum line holds vacuum, but I am not sure how to test the regulator itself.
The little S-shaped return hose, but that seems to hold pressure and not have any noticeable cracks.
other than that, I don't know where I'd look a tthis when it's running and fully assembled, as the bike seems to be built fully around whatever is leaking.
any suggestions on what to look at?
