Odometer help
« on: October 20, 2023, 11:11:08 AM »
Got my 92 K75RT Starting, running , and stopping. Next issue was the speedometer and odometer were not working. Thankfully I was able to remove the cluster without having to get the front fairing off , just the windscreen .(I have small hands) . Things looked good but I detached the 3 pin , see reply 38

http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=449.msg134236#msg134236

And deoxed and slightly twisted. Also deoxed  the big connector at the back of the cluster.  Reassembled and now the speedo works. Need to get the odo working as I have no fuel sender so It would be nice to know miles traveled.

Do the speedo and odo both use that 3 pin?
Is there an other connection  in there I should deox? Anywhere else?
Where do I go from here?

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Thanks duck. I was thinking it was electrical, not mechanical, since the speedo started working. But hopefully I can get a look at the gears without screwing anything up.

They're pretty easy to get to, I'd be surprised if the gears were still good.  I think they were made from compressed applesauce.

Quite a few years ago I found these cheap gears $6.00 on AliExpress. At last count we have done 7 conversions with no failures. I had a industrial chemist look at them and they are PTFE and do not require lubing. The grease put on the OEM gears was the reason for them destroying themselves. Dan has written a procedure that he uses. https://www.k100-forum.com/t16244-rebuilding-a-k-odometer-using-inexpensive-eby-gears-a-rough-guide.
